Raj Thakkar
President and CKD Lead, Primary Care Cardiovascular Society; GP and Honorary Visiting Professor, Cardiff University
Raj's is President of the Primary Care Cardiovascular Society, Honorary Visiting Professor at Cardiff University Medical School and works in industry. His roles also include GP partner since 2004, primary care cardiology lead for the Oxford HIN and national primary care workstream co-lead for the cardiac transformation programme (NHSE). He is on the national expert advisory groups for lipids, heart attack, heart failure and valve disease. Previous roles have included Clinical Commissioning Director for Bucks CCG/BOB ICB and Cardiac Lead for the Thames Valley SCN. Raj has worked as a presenter on BBC Radio and has written and published over 200 articles and several books including the MIMS consultation guide which won the BMA book of the year award in the category of medicine -2012. He has achieved two AF pioneer awards, was a national finalist for GP of the year in 2017 and a national HSJ finalist -2019.
