David Leckie
I am a Dermatology Specialist Nurse working in secondary care, until September last year I worked as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) in Primary Care. I am the Med Shr lead for the PCDS Executive Committee.
I'm an ex-military nurse by background. I was a Critical Care Transfer Specialist nurse in the military and finished up at RAF Mountain Rescue at RAF Valley on Anglesey, North Wales. When I left the military, I made the change to working as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner in both Minor Injuries and Minor Illness. After my Independent Prescribing course, an Advanced Clinical Practice MSc was a natural progression. I went to Primary Care for the training opportunities, continuity of patient care and work life balance. After a very short time in Primary Care, I realized that I would be seeing a lot of skin related issues and immediately became fascinated by it.
